Volunteer/Employment Opportunities

Volunteers are the back bone of our organization. Without the support of our volunteers, there would be no Maine Emergency Squad! The Squad is breaking records for call volume every year with no sign of turning back. We have a great group of dedicated volunteers but - WE NEED YOUR HELP! No experience is needed. We have frequent trainings and a structured, but customizable program in order to teach you the skills you need to help your community. We currently accept applications for the following positions:

  • EMT/Medic - directly responsible for care of the sick and injured. This person functions as the "crew chief" on a typical ambulance call
  • Emergency Vehicle Operator - This person is responsible for the safe operation of Squad vehicles during an emergency.
  • Patient Care Aide - Assists the crew chief in the delivery of quality patient care.
  • Support Member - While not directly involved in responding to 911 calls, these persons could assist agency administration with a variety of other work including, fund raising/grant writing, website design, mechanical work, etc.
  • Auxiliary Member - The Auxiliary, a division of the Squad is responsible for supporting the members of the Squad during prolonged emergencies as well as Squad and community social events. The Squad also assists in fund-raising and frequently helps less fortunate members of our community.

As a volunteer with the Maine Emergency Squad, you will have the opportunity to meet new friends, learn new skills, and make a difference in your community. There are many advantages to joining the Squad, including:
  • Free Training
  • Tax Incentives
  • Potential for scholarships and job training
